I haven’t had my brows done before — what should I book?

For brow beginners, a Classic Tint or HD Brow session is a great starting point.

Both options allow you to achieve anything from a natural, softly defined look to a more bold and dramatic style.

If you prefer something more subtle, a simple Brow Sculpt can provide a neat and polished finish.

I’m allergic to PPD — what are my options?

If you’re allergic to Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) — a common ingredient in tint and dye, unfortunately we’re unable to perform any HD Brows, Classic Tint, or Lash Tinting treatments on you.

However, we do offer Brow Sculpting and Naked Lamination (lamination without tint/dye) which are all great alternatives that still allow us to shape and style your brows safely, without the use of colour products.

We are constantly on the look out to help fill this gap in the market but are still yet to find the perfect PPD free option - watch this space!

What’s the difference between Classic Tint and HD Brow?

Classic Tint is your go-to for a soft, natural enhancement. It subtly boosts the colour of your brow hairs for up to 4 weeks*, with a gentle skin stain that fades in a few days — perfect if you’re just starting your brow journey or love that minimal look. This treatment looks best on someone who has fuller, lighter brows.

HD Brows (Hybrid Dye) offers a stronger, longer lasting finish. It stains both the skin and hairs, with results lasting up to 6–10 days on the skin while boosting hair colour for up to 6–8* weeks. Perfect for that more defined, filled-in brow look. This treatment looks best on any skin type and any type of brows — and will look soften and look their best on day 2-3 post treatment.

Either option can be customisable and applied both softly or boldly. We will shortly be phasing out Classic Tint so keep this in mind.

Is Brow Lamination for me?

If you’re constantly reaching for brow gels, struggle with unruly hairs or just want that effortless low maintenance put together look — brow lamination might be your new best friend.

Whether your brows are curly, coarse, downward-facing or a little sparse in places, brow lamination works by gently relaxing and reshaping the hairs into your ideal shape — think fuller, fluffier and far more manageable brows that stay in place without product.

And no, they won’t look or stay looking ‘straight up’ — after the first 24 hours, you can style them any which way!

Ticked one or more of those boxes? You’re exactly who lamination was made for.

How should I prep for my brow appointment?

HD BROW & CLASSIC TINT:
Avoid facial tanning products for 3 - 4 days prior to your appointment.

Avoid cleansing your brows/face on the day of your appointment (important).

LAMINATION:
Avoid facial tanning products for 3 - 4 days prior to your appointment.

Avoid trimming your brows in the weeks leading up to your booking.

Ensure a minimum of 6-7 weeks between brow lamination bookings.

LASH FILLER/LIFT:
Avoid caffeine the morning of your appointment (helps prevent watery, flickery or sensitive eyes).
Arrive eye makeup FREE (it can leave behind a film that weakens the lift and makes lashes more resistant to the solution).
Remove contact lenses before your appointment starts.
Avoid lash serums at least 7 days prior to your appointment (these can affect how your lashes lift and/or increase sensitivity)

BROW SCULPT:
Avoid active ingredients (found in skincare, scroll down for more information on this) 1 - 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
Avoid excess sun exposure leading up to your booking.
Avoid facial tanning products for 3 - 4 days prior to your appointment.
Avoid cleansing your brows/face on the day of your appointment (important).

Can I fake tan my face before or after my appointment?

For the best results, please avoid spray tans or facial tanning products for at least 3 - 4 days before your brow appointment.

Fake tan can sometimes react with brow dye or tint, leading to unwanted colours like orange or green, or overly saturated brows. Additionally, as the tan fades or flakes around your brows, the dye or tint on the skin may also fade unevenly and prematurely which may cause patchiness.

To achieve a clean, natural finish please arrive with fresh, product free skin and brows.

If you plan to have both brow and tanning treatments, we recommend booking your brow appointment before your tan and allowing at least 48 hours after your brow treatment before tanning.

I’m using active ingredients — is this okay?

Active ingredients like Retinol/Retinal/Retinoids, Vitamin C, Glycolic/lactic/Salicylic Acids, AHAs/BHAs and Benzoyl Peroxide speed up cell turnover — which is great for your skin but can cause brow dye/tint to fade faster or not grip the skin properly.

To get the most from your brow treatment, it’s recommended to avoid these products at least 1 - 2 weeks before your appointment.

This also helps minimise the risk of skin irritation or lifting during waxing.

What if I’ve had a chemical peel or facial treatment recently?

If you've recently had a chemical peel, it's important to allow the skin to fully heal before undergoing any brow treatments. We recommend waiting at least 7 - 14 days or longer depending on the strength of the peel and your skin’s sensitivity.

This helps minimise the risk of irritation, over-exfoliation, or skin lifting. If in doubt, please check with your skin therapist or get in touch before booking.

If you've had a facial or advanced skin treatment (such as microdermabrasion, enzyme therapy, or LED), we also recommend waiting 7 - 14 days before booking any brow waxing, lamination or tint/dye treatments. This gives your skin time to recover and reduces the risk of sensitivity or lifting.

For best results, we suggest having your brows done at least 3 - 4 days before your facial, and be sure to let your therapist know to avoid the brow area during your treatment.

I’ve had cosmetic injectables recently — is this okay?

If you've recently had cosmetic injectables (like anti-wrinkle or dermal filler), it's best to wait at least 2 weeks before booking any brow treatments. This allows everything to settle properly, ensures optimal results and helps avoid any irritation or unwanted movement in the treated areas.

Feel free to double check with your injector if you’re unsure — they’ll know what’s right for you.

I’m on acne medication — what are my options?

If you’re currently using acne medications (topical or oral) or have stopped within the last 6–12 months, unfortunately we cannot perform waxing treatments to protect your skin However, Danielle Hartley Brow Studio offers tweezing and ‘only’ options (where waxing or tweezing isn’t included), making these perfect alternatives for those on acne medications or with sensitive skin.

For treatments like brow lamination, we strongly recommend consulting your medical professional first as certain medications can increase skin sensitivity and risk of irritation.

I’m pregnant or breastfeeding — does this matter?

Not at all — our products are formulated to be safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, we strongly advise consulting your medical professional before booking any chemical treatments such as brow lamination or lash filler, especially if you are in the first or second trimester. This precaution ensures both your safety, your bub’s safety and optimal results.

Please be aware that hormonal changes during pregnancy and breastfeeding can influence the outcome and longevity of brow and lash treatments. We recommend discussing these factors with your medical professional to make an informed decision.

I have accidentally wet my face right after my treatment — what happens next?

Don’t stress — it happens! If it was just a splash or light moisture, your results may still hold up. But if the area was thoroughly soaked or visibly affected by steam, you might notice some fading (for hd brow or classic tint) or a dropped lift (for lamination and lash filler).

Try to avoid further moisture and keep an eye on them but if you’re unsure or not happy with the outcome, please feel free to get in touch and book a top up maintenance appointment.

I have a scar in my brow — what should I book?

Brow scars are more common than you might think and the good news is — there are treatments designed to help soften and minimise their appearance. They would be;

HD Brow — this treatment stains the skin and helps achieve that filled-in look.

Naked Lamination — this treatment redirects the hairs to help style your brows in a way that covers the scar (if achievable).

Lamination & HD Brow (aka our go-to option for brow scars) — this treatment redirects the hairs and fills in any sparse areas with the dye to help improve overall brow symmetry.

IMPORTANT: Dye may not adhere to as nicely in scarred areas compared to normal skin/brows. You may notice this fading earlier.

Is it okay to tweeze in between appointments?

Short answer; NO.

It’s super tempting, we know – but tweezing at home can disrupt your natural brow shape and make it harder to achieve the best results at your next appointment as you are creating uneven growth patterns, meaning you won’t feel soft and smooth for very long before you notice small pesky hairs popping back up. Letting your brows grow in fully gives us the cleanest canvas to work with, so we can shape them beautifully and evenly every time.

Is it okay to trim my brow hairs in between appointments?

We recommend avoiding trimming between appointments – especially if you’ve had a lamination. Trimming can remove length we need to create that full, fluffy look and may lead to uneven patches. Trust the process and leave the shaping to us for the best results every time.

How often should I be booking?

Wondering how often you should book your treatments? Here’s a quick guide:
